The PGA TOURs policy remains unchanged Ty Votaw chief marketing officer PGA TOUR We could use the above quote and apply it to many things couldnt we Change is not something the TOUR likes For example we all knew these anchored belly putter thing a ma bobs should be against the rules but it took forever for the TOUR to finally do something about it Lets be honest the TOUR is not known for pushing the envelope or leading the social charge for well anything Most can accept that Its one thing if big sweeping meaningful change isnt your thing its another thing entirely if you are for all intents and purposes allergic to change The European Tour those wild crazy guys is a little looser with things which I find strange seeing as the game was invented there They recently announced a new policy that shorts will be allowed in practice rounds Thats right we talkin bout practice Were not even talking about the game I have to be honest I didnt even know golf had clothing policies for practice rounds The rounds arent televised and very few fans attend So why the hardline stance The Habit Its an outstanding burger joint in SoCal It also happens to be a THE BIG SHORT S By Mark Willard range tokens word that describes the PGA TOURs way of handling new ideas They go with what they know their habits And The Habit for golf is to play it safe You know Ive found a funny thing in life playing it safe often leads to the exact thing that scares you In other words playing it safe is anything but We keep hearing about the downturn of the golf economy yet the sport keeps responding by playing it safe May I remind you we talkin bout practice Truth be told about this issue Who cares I think all of us have bigger fish to fry If TOUR players cant wear shorts Monday through Wednesday I wont lose any sleep But this seemed like an opportunity to say yes I have three little kids at home and it strikes me how often as parents we find ourselves saying no When they give you the chance to say yes you have to take it It doesnt come often Same thing for golf Say yes when you can because the sport more often than not tells its players no Young people dont like the word no I dont care if guys wear shorts When its hot I bet theyd like to But if they cant theyll get over it and so will we But a fair question to ask the PGA TOUR about their unchanged rules Why Do You Really Care if PGA TOUR Players Wear Big Boy Pants Do you think the PGA TOUR should allow its players to wear shorts Yes NoYOUR ASSOCIATION YOUR GEAR GET IT HERE scga org store
